Taxi Stories... He posed proudly in front of his livelihood, a polished and obviously much-loved London Taxi. As a cab driver -- and philosopher on wheels -- for forty-five years, he had seen much, ranging from the influx of Hollywood stars in the 60s to the more hidden activities made possible by the cavernous (and seemingly private) back seat. When I asked about the biggest changes he'd witnessed, his tone became wistful. 'You know,' he said, 'it's becoming more and more like America here... no one has time to sit back and just talk any more... and they're all chasing the buck, all the time...'
